HOW TO PREVENT OTHERS FROM USING THE REMOTE CONTROL

HOW TO DEACTIVATE YOUR DSTV REMOTE CONTROL

Imagine a situation where you have an interesting show to watch 

on Soundcity and every member of your house wants to watch 

the usual Africa Magic. 

Perhaps, you don't want people changing the dstv channel here 

and there with the remote control. Here's a little trick i use and it 

really works for me because it will make them drop 

the remote control with disappointment after pressing several times and the channel fails to 

                            change.

NB: This trick will make your decoder unable to receive commands from the remote 

control until you return it to it's default mode.

HOW TO DO IT 

Look for the 'SHIFT' key on your dstv remote control, Press it once (it blinks) followed 

by the 'EXIT' button. This will quickly deactivate that remote control making it unable 

to change channel, increase the volume or any other function.

TO ACTIVATE THE REMOTE AGAIN

Re-Activating the remote is almost the same but with only a slight difference; in this 

step Press the SHIFT' button again, followed by the button with this 'I' symbol 

(information symbol) That's it

Apart from using this trick to control access to your decoder, you can also use this 

trick to control the viewing of channels with adult contents (i.e For Parental control). 

Just choose a channel that's suitable for family viewing  and apply the trick.... 

The children will be unable to change from that channel till you Re-activate the remote control.
